2007 Bikers for Boobs Run

Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention is Focus for Fifth Annual Bikers for Boobs Charity Motorcycle Run

27 June 2007 --

Corpus Christi, TX – Coastal Bend breast cancer patients will benefit when the Darlins of the Reguladores Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, Corpus Christi Chapter, host their Fifth Annual Bikers for Boobs Charity Run on Saturday, October 6, 2007.  Proceeds from the event will be donated to the American Cancer Society’s breast prosthesis program and CHRISTUS SPOHN’s First Friday breast care program providing free mammograms to women who could not afford them due to lack of insurance or limited finances.

Bikers for Boobs was created four years ago to raise awareness and prevention to the devastating effects of breast cancer.  The fundraiser begins with a charity motorcycle run starting at 10:00 a.m. with registration at Corpus Christi Harley Davidson located at 502 South Padre Island Drive.  The run will end with last bike in at Knuckleheads, located at 819 North Upper Broadway, and where the other activities will begin.  Participants can enjoy delicious South Texas barbecue plates for a $5.00 donation, 50/50 raffle, door prizes, vendors, live auction, pink ribbon-decorated bike contest, and live music.

In addition, the Darlins are proud to present a commemorative cookbook that will be for sale at this year’s event.  Included in the cookbook will be recipes and memorial tributes from Club members, as well as Coastal Bend cancer survivors and representatives and volunteers of the American Cancer Society and First Friday.

Since 2003, the annual Bikers for Boobs fundraiser has raised $70,000, providing vital funding for cancer education and patient support for Coastal Bend residents.

Implemented in July 2005, the Cancer Society’s Breast Prosthesis Program has served close to 200 women.  Since its inception in 1994, First Friday has supplied nearly 11,000 mammograms to South Texas women who could not afford them. 650 mammograms were supplied in 2006 alone.
